BMW Move Gearbox And Engine Production To India

Filed under: Uncategorized — lloyd @ 11:24 am

German manufacturer BMW have announced that they have started gearbox and engine production  for their premium 5 series sedans in India.

President of BMW India Andreas Schaaf has said he now classes BMW as a locally produced vehicle for India.

The announcement comes on the back of BMW’s countrymen Mercedes saying that they will be assembling engines and transmissions for their executive C and E class sedans in a Maharashtra facility.

The popularity of these vehicles outside of Germany is evident, with the group revealing they expect record sales going into the last part of 2011.

The influx of BMW’s into the market can be both a blessing and a curse for owners, spare parts will be readily available, however they will likely be at a premium price. Industry professionals are shifting towards the use of part finder services who work with a network of authorised dealers to find the part needed at the best price.

When using a part finder service you’re getting a quote from a network of suppliers that may or may not have your part in stock. Either way you can rest assured you’re getting the best parts and service for your money.
