Efficiency Dynamic Technologies

Filed under: engines — lloyd @ 9:53 am

BMWs range of new vehicles all includes the innovative Efficiency Dynamic technologies.  These technologies are a combination of ideas with the sole purpose of reducing fuel use and costs.

These include,

Auto start stop:  This technology will turn off your engine whilst you are at a standstill.   When you depress the clutch again, the engine will automatically start again.

Brake energy regeneration:  This innovation recharges the battery whilst your vehicle is freewheeling or breaking.Electric power Steering:  Instead of using a conventional hydraulics system, BMW use and electric motor system.   The System only uses power when the steering wheel is actively turned.
Optimum Shift Indicator:  This displays the most fuel efficient gear selection on the dashboard.

Lightweight Engineering:  By lowering the overall weight of the vehicle by using lightweight materials.

Reduced rolling resistance tires:  These tyres have a special heat resistance anti distortion material which reduces friction.

Low friction Fluid:  By The fluids in the vehicle are engineered to reduce friction and deliver maximum performance and efficiency.

Active aerodynamics:  By closing the air vents during the first part of the journey, the car’s engine reaches its optimum temperature quicker.  The vents open to cool the engine when required.

All these technologies lead to an increase in performance and efficiency.  Good for both you, your pocket and the environment

How Do You Choose The BMW That Is Right For You?

Filed under: engines — sunil @ 8:08 am

There are so many different models of BMW vehicles that you can choose from that you will probably be pretty confused about which is which and what the best model will be for you. The first thing that that you need to choose is the price range that you can comfortably work within; which means that you might not be able to get the model that you really have your eye on. Do you want (or need) a Saloon or a Coupe? Are you someone that has a family that has you running hither and yon to get to football practice and all of those other activities?

If this is what you need then you might want to choose a Touring model or one of the X models (X3, X6 or X5 or the new X1 when it comes out). If you are taking kids and family all about you will need the models that are larger (like the 5-Door or the Touring editions). Those that really want the “WOW Factor” that almost always goes along with owning and driving a BMW vehicle. If you really want to be able to blow everyone that sees you away you could choose among the Convertible models that are available in each class that BMW makes (except for the X-class). There is one thing that owning a BMW say: I made it! You might also be saying that you are very proud of what you have accomplished in your life and you are showing it.

Fuel Efficient Engines

Filed under: engines — admin @ 4:54 pm

Delivering an endless flow of power is one of the comments in this video explaining some of the innovation within BMW’s engine. They talk above improved performance whilst reducing fuel consumption.

There is no doubt BMW make some of the best engines in the world, by ever improving technology as well as reducing weight of the engines. Systems such as Valvetronic that chances how much the vales open at different speeds, has improved BMW engines immensely, taken the image away from a fuel guzzling luxury car, to one that has better fuel consumption, of some makes well below the size of some BMWs.

The video below show some of the innovation that goes into producing such fuel efficient BMW engines.
