This weekend (11th , 12 Feb) saw every BMW showroom in the UK, put on a bit or “Rar Rar” for its potential clients, with live music, and plenty of buffet food. It probably was different through all the showrooms, but they all had one thing in common, they want us BMW drivers to come and see the new BMW 3 Series. On first impressions, the car did look better than its predecessor. I personally preferred the look of the Mercedes C Class (never been an Audi A4 lover), but this has been put to bed especially looking at the new lower light formation in real life. I say real life, because it just doesn’t photograph well. It is unfortunate that the Mercedes still looks better on many photographs, but lose a bit of magic when you see it, but the BMW does the opposite.

What is very apparent is the availability of the what car review that compares the new BMW 3 Series to the Mercedes C Class and on every sector the BMW shines above the Merc, in fact it almost makes it look like a has been, which is astonishing for we still have to admit the Mercedes is still a very good car. The worry was the 3 Series was even though 6 years old still deemed as the best car in the class and there was real worry that an updated model may reverse the trend, but the review states the opposite. On already doo performance the 3 Series improves even more and has taken time to improve those minor complaints such as boots pace and rear legroom, which both have been improved on.

The car is worth the acclaim, although the BMW dealership I was at, was just too busy to help me personally and I could clearly see other potential customers waiting in the wings, although being fed and entertained. In hindsight, the time to go is in quieter times and book a test drive. There may be downside with those who intend to lease, as currently there is too much demand to reduce prices. It is believed Mercedes C class can be bought of leased with discounts at the moment, bit alas not the 3 Series. With depreciation being the same as the Mercedes, just over 40% this is still good news for those wishing to lease a New BMW 3series. There is good news with tax bands for that compay car driver, most models have reduced their CO"2 bands, with the diesels falling below that magic 120g/km figure. Even with new April tax bands, the BMW still beats the Merc.

The hype has started on TV ready for the release of what probably is one of the most important cars in the UK. The BMW 3 Series still outsells the Ford Mondeo and is seen by many as the best mid executive car on the market. So the new car has been seen by all for months now, with many reviews, and most of them very positive stating that this sets the standard. The existing BMW 3 Series is 6 years old now, so pretty much everything has improved a little you could say it is 1% better at 100 things, rather than 100% better at one thing.

It is a bit larger, it has extra legroom, extra boot space and because the new models are lighter, on average 40KG, they are also a bit quicker and deliver better fuel economy, with the most efficient model down to 109g/km. After all this car is aimed at the junior executive, anything that saves fuel and keeps cost down whist not affect performance is always going to be a winner. The looks need to be seen, as the photos and video don’t give that wow factor, it pretty much looks like a more rounded version of the existing model, but in real life you can see the difference more.

This weekend, BMW showrooms around the country are opening their doors to celebrate the new 3 Series, I am pretty sure I will be there, to understand even more.

There are some manufacturers that when you need to replace any parts, buying aftermarket versions from the local auto factor stores is food enough. The truth is that even on other makes, using these parts can invalidate any warranties , but when it comes to a luxury quality car manufacturer like BMW, it is more essential. Lets be honest BMW’s are not just for a few years before they start hitting the scrap yards. Most owners expect to get decades of use out of them, with only the cost of ownership driving these off the road. So most people looking for BMW car parts will at least look down the genuine parts route before pricing cheaper alternatives.

Breaker yards that specialise in BMW’s is a good choice when looking for the genuine article without breaking the bank. These operators buy salvaged BMW’s that either can’t be repaired or is not cots effective to, then strip off the genuine parts for sale. Of course these parts still hold a premium price as they are not easy to get a hold of, and salvaged BMW’s are very expensive, to the point, you can often buy a road legal version as cheap. But these prices are still very competitive compared to the dealerships, that have no issue with adding lots of noughts to their cost price and the right quality to ensure your BMW lives for another decade or 2.

Seated inside, the driver is treated to a sports seat with adjustable bolstering and in the Sport Line, a full-colour next-generation Head Up Display. The freestanding iDrive Monitor with high-resolution display recalls the latest flatscreen televisions normally found in living rooms rather than cars, giving the interior a lighter, more airy feel. Rear passengers are not neglected, as there is now 15mm more knee room and 9mm more headroom.

So the car is rapid in a straight line, has a well-appointed cabin with all the creature comforts that one desires and rides well. But what really makes a sporting executive sedan is the ride and handling.

Driven hard on the outskirts of Barcelona, the BMW exhibited the same breath-taking chassis dynamics as the mountain scenery. The electro-mechanical steering is accurate without being overly sharp and there is ample feedback from the 225/40 R19 Bridgestone S001 tyres in front.

The wider 255/35 R19 tyres at the back keep the car composed and poised around bends – both high-speed sweepers taken at insane speeds and tight hairpins where the lack of understeer is amazing. And all throughout, the ride is neither jittery nor bouncy; it is as comfortable cruising on the autobahn as it is charging down a snaking B-road. The new 3 Series will put a smile on your face as you tackle corner after corner.

He also praised BMW’s efforts, which “open up a new model for corporate citizens to take part in intangible cultural heritage protection”.

The displays are part of the more than 120 tangible and intangible cultural heritage items that the BMW Culture Journey has explored in the past five years.

The caravans have journeyed to the ancient Silk Road in the northwest, the Grand Canal in the east, Gansu and Sichuan provinces in the west and Fujian and Guangdong provinces in the south, as well as the central provinces Shanxi, Henan and Hubei.

The exhibition is creatively integrated with the “five elements” in traditional Chinese culture – fire, wood, metal, water and earth – to represent the characteristics and significance of the routes each year.

The combined length of the journeys now total 12,000 km. The company donated more than 5 million yuan to 43 cultural heritage protection programs during the period.

German firm BMW announced a £500m UK investment, more than doubling the funding from Japanese firm Nissan that was announced earlier this week.

Bayerische Motoren Weke AG (BMW) confirmed to The Telegraph that they would be manufacture the latest BMW Mini model at a yet unnamed plant, although it will be one of three already producing BMW.

This came just hours after Nissan confirmed it would be both designing and producing its new vehicle in the UK. The Qashqai will start life at the Japanese firms UK design centre in Paddington before going to development in Cranfield and finally production in Sunderland.

CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn said: "The UK has been a cornerstone of Nissan manufacturing since 1986."

The announcement brings the total ‘inward investment’ for Britain to around £700m.

A Management Today report described how the double announcement will not just save jobs but also increase the British auto manufacturing industries profile, as it becomes in the case of Nissan Sunderland one of the world’s only zero emissions production plant.

Production at Nissan Sunderland is amongst the most respected in the world as it manages to source Nissan parts and spares from external sources before bringing them together during the manufacturing process.

BMW’s announcement although not location confirmed is expected to save jobs in Oxford, Swindon and Birmingham. Experts from the firm also revealed the importance of producing the Mini in its home market saying the target audience in places such as the far east want the British heritage that surrounds vehicles like the Mini, something that is impossible to mimic.

German manufacturer BMW have announced that they have started gearbox and engine production for their premium 5 series sedans in India.

President of BMW India Andreas Schaaf has said he now classes BMW as a locally produced vehicle for India.

The announcement comes on the back of BMW’s countrymen Mercedes saying that they will be assembling engines and transmissions for their executive C and E class sedans in a Maharashtra facility.

The popularity of these vehicles outside of Germany is evident, with the group revealing they expect record sales going into the last part of 2011.

The influx of BMW’s into the market can be both a blessing and a curse for owners, spare parts will be readily available, however they will likely be at a premium price. Industry professionals are shifting towards the use of part finder services who work with a network of authorised dealers to find the part needed at the best price.

When using a part finder service you’re getting a quote from a network of suppliers that may or may not have your part in stock. Either way you can rest assured you’re getting the best parts and service for your money.

How safe are gift track days? Why is it safe to throw a car into corner on a racing track but not on the roads? These are understandable concerns but not necessary very few accidents actually happen on track days.

Drivers are under constant supervision from experts and are fully briefed on what they can and cannot do whilst on the track.

Track days and driving experiences make for an ideal present for any occasions, from milestone birthdays to a fathers day gift. Even if speeding around a track doesn’t sound like it appeals imagine the thrill of driving a dream car for a few hours in a fast or slow drive.

CEO of BMW North America Jim O’Donnell revealed to a US news outlet that the ActiveE – an electric version of the 1 Series coupe won’t actually work.

Mr O’Donnell supported his outburst by saying the battery life of electric vehicles will be no good for over 90% of the human population, he even urged the government to scrap any plans they have of offering tax credits for people who purchase an Electric Vehicle (EV).

Experts have long criticised the battery capabilities and range of an EV, even in an infinitely smaller country such as the UK. At the end of the interview the Chief Executive Officer of the German car giants did say he would greatly appreciate anyone buying the luxury manufacturers environmentally friendly offering but he also announced that he felt diesel models would win out in the long run.

The eventual mass introduction of electric vehicles will help benefit the cah for BMW motfailures industry no end, scrapping a vehicle is both environmentally and economically friendly, using firms such as Scrap-Car also gives you reassurance when trying to get cash for scrap cars, and is better in comparison to local councils. Who still charge you to dispose of a vehicle.

Always remember to keep hold of any documentation issued to you when you scrap a vehicle, it allows you to claim back any unused car tax and also is your legal back up should anything go wrong, Scrap-Car does not work with any firm that will not issues these certificates.

Since the then Labour government introduced a scrappage scheme offering up to £2000 off the price of a new car many people have turned to scrapping as an easier option to selling.

Scrapping does save the hassle of finding and waiting for a buyer but a common myth is that you don’t get anything for scrapping a car. Scrap car can offer you both cash and free vehicle collection if you need it. Working with a network of approved breakers and scrap yards also means that you will be getting an exceptional service.

Another myth surrounding scrap cars is that people only scrap old worthless cars, this isn’t always true. Scrap car receive hundreds of requests every day with ranging from Ford Escorts to BMW 3 series. Some cars are that good they aren’t even scrapped and become a hobby job for garages and their owners.

The ease and speed of scrapping makes it an excellent option when getting rid of any car be it a Fiat or a BMW, no waiting around for a buyer to call you back or arranging viewings, no disputing on price. All you have to do is fill in a simple online form and within hours your vehicle will be gone and you can have cash in your pocket. It will even be picked up for you if you want.
